Matériel Missives 9 / Oh, we're halfway there (plus NEW ART!)

In January I said, "I will decline all social activities in favor of writing my book, and I will pay my S.O. for every day past the end of the month I don't finish." As an introvert, that seemed easy enough, and it resulted pretty successfully in the completion of Draft 2. This month, I've been attempting to reprise January's sprint.

Even though I'm going easy on the monetary penalty this time, this work plan can be challenging if you're dealing with a black hole of indecision like the 50-75% portion of my book. Yeah, I'm still working on that part. So I've taken some time to switch back over to plotting, character motivations, etc., and I'm only just now feeling good about where the synopsis has landed. There's a light at the end of the tunnel: theoretically, it's just execution from here on out, and then final cleanup.

In other news, my Sierra/Azuhal collaboration with artist Sarah Webb is complete! We worked together on this piece for most of July, and I'm stoked about how it turned out.

Sierra and Azuhal's relationship is much more complex in this draft (just one of the new developments I'm excited to share with readers), and Sarah did a fantastic job capturing it. I'm gauging interest on framed/unframed prints -- and in fact, I have a really nice sample in hand -- so be sure to give me a holler if that's something you'd like to see.

Finally, to accompany the new art, the novel has a new title and online home! All info on The Blood of Their Dreams can now be found at http://amyhuang.work. Please forward to your fantasy- and sci-fi-loving friends!
